Septic tank
A septic tank uses natural bacteria to break down solid matter into liquid. It is very important that no anti-bacterial cleaning agents are used when cleaning toilets as this will kill the bacteria in the tank and this is the cause of most issues in septic tanks. Septic tank-friendly products are available on the market.
Only toilet water should enter the septic where possible and other water (bath, kitchen, washing machine) water should be diverted around the tank and directly into the soak away.
The septic may require de-sludging every few years but other than that is basically maintenance-free.
Conservancy tank
It is always better to go as big as possible on these tanks for the simple fact that a honey sucker needs to be called to drain the unit. Imagine at a cost of R800 a call out a honey sucker would need to come to drain a 1750lt conservancy tank. That would be every 3-7 days at a cost of R800 per load. Fees are charged per truckload so whether it’s 1750lt or 6000lt the price remains the same. GOING BIG WILL SAVE YOU IN THE LONGRUN. All water can go into this tank as it will be treated and disposed of accordingly.
Underground storage tanks
These tanks act the same way as vertical tanks but for an underground installation for rain, municipal water or chemical storage.
Attenuation tanks
These are becoming more commonplace in building regulations now than ever before. In a nutshell, these tanks serve as buffers slowing down the amount of water entering the municipal storm drain systems. During heavy rains this is highly important as imagine a 5000 mx3 roof in a 100mm storm, that’s 500 000 lt of water.
Water goes into a “holding tank” and this then has a smaller outlet allowing the water to gradually be released over time instead of one big flush. These tanks range from small domestic tanks to huge industrial units. Ask us about our range and associated contacts for any queries on these units.
Domestic to industrial units are available, contact us for more information.
Tank sizing from 1750lt to 6000lt available (tanks can also be interlinked I.e 6klX6klX6kl to get larger volumes with minimal effort)
Please ask us about the correct installation method before installing your underground tanks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7R2x44BHBtU&ab_channel=DeepSouthHomestead is A great link for the installation process.
